15 Review For 12" inch Pyle PLPW12D 4Ohm Subwoofer 1600W Max Car sound system

"It's a decent low-budget pyle subwoofer. First and foremost, a decent price and a good appearance! It can't even manage 500 watts of continuous power! It's classified at a higher level, hmmmm... No, keep it at a low wattage of 200-350 and you should be good, but on the downside, you won't get the sound you're looking for. To hit the lows, you'll need to increase your bass boost, lower your frequency response, and increase your dek eq. So I'm not sure how to save this one while still getting results!"

These are reasonable for the price. In a 1999 Trans Am, I replaced two factory 6.5 woofers with the factory Monsoon stereo. I wasn't expecting anything for the money because I was searching for a cheap substitute for blown speakers in a car that gets driven just a few times a year. When I switched on the stereo and heard how good they sounded, I was pleasantly surprised. Time can say if they hold up, but for now they do the job.

For the price, this is an excellent result. When it comes to cheap subs, the most important factor to consider is longevity. For a day or two, something can sound appealing, but how long can it last? For the past year, I've been beating this on a regular basis. In that time, there was no degradation in efficiency. You simply need to fine-tune it and not overdo it. It begins to distort if I offer it too much juice. However, considering its price point, it's amazing how loud this can get while still sounding crisp, simple, and distortion-free. This isn't going to win any awards or smash any windows, but it's more than sufficient for everyday personal use for a novice or someone on a budget. I have it set to around 70% of what it's capable of for regular listening range.

So thus is a review on a budget sub, this was the cheapest dual voice coil sub and I will update this review after I install the subs and run them. See my pictures for the more important parts of the speakers, one thing that should be noted is these have PLASTIC BASKETS meaning they could crack over time especially in hot and cold conditions and heavy usage but they can't take enough power to damage their own basket so this shouldn't be an issue but did come as a surprise to me. Second note is the tinsel leads are not woven into the spider but again this is a big time budget sub so im ratings it with that in mind. Third thing is these don't and won't do its rated power so don't try, the cone, dust cap and surround feel pretty solid as well and the terminals are good and sturdy...update coming soon. Update ok so I added a photo of the finished product and I gotta say I'm amazed at how good these cheap subs sound, I wired these in series to get a 8 ohm load cause obviously im running these as 4 channel with a 8 ohm min on my home receiver but good lord these really do sound great so for the price im gonna give these a 5 star rating, I think if you don't over power these then they could be exactly what your looking for in a budget build.

"Okay, I had to use a dremmel to slightly alter the original speaker opening in the package. To fit the depth of this speaker, I also removed the plastic splines on the inside, but it's now in place, looking original and working well. The 'dual' wire connections on this speaker are identical to the OEM woofer wire/connections. Let's just say it works as well as the stereo you already have in the car because this woofer can draw some power that the OEM Z3 stereo cannot, resulting in minimal sound with no distortion and clean bass."

One was destroyed when it arrived... However, it seems to be of excellent quality... I'll update this analysis of how the latest ones sound until they arrive... *UPDATE* Different applications may be available. My plan was to build a boombox. In a tightly sealed case, I have two Pyramid bullet tweeters and a Fosi "200 watt" (more like 30 watts RMSx2 @ 4 ohms) amplifier. I'll confess that these speakers can take a beating. They've surprised me with their ability to hit those low notes. Lower wattage is recommended, but no more than 100w rms per speaker.

These bad boys are incredible. I matched two of these with a good ported box and was pleasantly surprised by the tone. Since they don't believe me based on how good they sound, I have to pop my truck to show them I only have 6 inch subwoofers. "Pyle speakers are just that, piles... of crap!" my own brother tried to convince me. And after this encounter, I completely disagree. You simply cannot find better for the price and the very unique setup I have (older BMW that needed 8 ohm 6 inch subwoofers) without more than doubling the price. I can't say enough good things about these. Get these if you need 8ohm or even 4ohm subs!

I'm going to say that for my low-budget project, this thing is fantastic! This sub is powered by a 2.1 Bluetooth amp board that outputs no more than 100 watts. With the strength it has, this thing lets out a lot of bass. I designed a 1.4ft3 box with a slot port that measures 10.5W x 1.5H x 18L. This is in my master bedroom, and it produces a lot of bass. I'm currently using it in my home audio setup, but I imagine it will work well in a car with the same box volume.

The Shaker device was used to replace the blown factory Pioneer sub in the trunk of my 2013 Mustang. The speaker fit perfectly in the factory sub package, but I had to drill my own mounting holes. Other than that, it sounds as good as the factory amp did if that's what you want, but I don't think the factory amp has the nut to push any further than this.

"Bought this for the intention of replacing an OEM GM 8'' sub and it has worked perfect for that application. Maybe a slight improvement on bass. No complaints if you are using this for a very modest OEM setup. Car audio has come a long way in 20 years. I can't believe the quality for the price. "

Fantastic sub. If you're thinking about purchasing it, go ahead and do so. The money was well spent. Yes, it's a less expensive sub, and a more expensive sub would strike harder, but this one is loud enough to hurt my ears, and I only have a 400 watt amplifier. The amp safety light comes on before the sub even begins to distort, so I know I will get something out of it. Pyle is one of my favorite characters. Excellent value for money!

This speaker went beyond and beyond my standards. It's in a jl stelth box under the seat of my extended cab truck. I'm using an Alpine monoblock amp, which is overkill but works well with the other components. I tried a few of the boss speakers, and the sound is awful and distorts. This subwoofer is better compared to the Alpine type E subwoofer; sound and output are nearly identical at half the cost.

These 15s are very responsive and can handle the bass that I love and they are so durable and feel professionally built to last.I never realized Pyle speakers or subwoofers were of this high quality, but now that I know I will be purchasing another one for my vehicle very soon!!!

I own a Jeep Wrangler TJ and was disappointed to learn from "official" sources that my center console would only accommodate a costly replacement subwoofer. The subwoofer that was supposed to be exclusive to the vehicle had exploded, so I had to repair it. Fortunately, I was able to locate other sources that endorsed the Pyle model. All I had to do was drill a couple of new holes in the plastic (completely concealed from view), screw in the subwoofer, and plug in the electrical connectors. And that's it! It was extremely simple to do and looks much better than the original. The Pyle subwoofer now pumps crisp, simple tones into my vehicle when I crank up the volume on my stereo. I'm completely enamored with the music.

This is the cheapest way to get some mid bass out of your back door. Here, these aren't SPL, so don't expect them to shake your car apart (if you want that, get anything bigger), but if you want some deep bass with a tiny amp, you've found it. (In a sealed or ported box, you might be able to get more than 100rms@2ohm/channel or 200rms@2ohm/mono, but in a car door, you get neither) Use sound deadening or poly foam to separate the rear sounds wave from entering back into the car.
