For CB, the Firestik is an awesome product. Firestik 5 feet is a Superb tunable antenna. With 2 meters SW/VHF, I'm sure it will also fit well. It works well at home and on the road with CB, both of which have weather channels. The range of this antenna can differ between you and the person you're trying to touch, depending on your line of sight and objects. Open areas with a straight line of sight and no artefacts work best. The range has really been limited by cities with medium to large buildings. With this 5' antenna, the installation was a breeze and had excellent reception/transmission. The SWR meter is located below (1) and hardly registers on any channel. You want the antenna to be positioned the same as it is, possibly vertical, if you receive line of sight signals (stations near you). It doesn't matter whether the ionosphere jumbles the polarity around vertical or horizontal if you receive "skip" signals (long distance stations).
